The new Galaxy S4 is Samsung’s most innovative Galaxy smart phone so far and offers enhanced features over the previous best selling and award winning Samsung Galaxy S3.
First off, the screen has been upgraded to a 4.99 inch Super AMOLED 1080 x 1920 pixel full HD display compared with the 4.8 inch panel of the Galaxy S3 and 4.3 inches of the Galaxy S2, this high resolution is ideal for outputting HD movies and video via HDMI and wireless connections to big screen TVs plus the screen can even be used whilst wearing gloves!
Although this can’t compete with the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Note 7R, it’s still a great budget option.
The rear facing main camera is now a 13 mega pixel lens with a whole host of imaging features whilst the front lens is a 2 mega pixels, both can capture full HD video, you can even capture a dual shot with both the photographer and subject together as well as show both people plus the background when making video calls. The camera also captures a sound clip with photos for an extra layer of excitement.
Other camera features include ‘Drama Shot’ which splices action shots together, ‘Story Album’ which is a new and fun organisational tool, Panoramic & Low Light Modes.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is powered by a quad-core 1.9GHz processor for blistering speeds and super smooth operation plus a dedicated 533 MHz graphics chip, this is backed up by 2GB of RAM and an expandable memory via a MicroSD card slot.
Samsung’s latest technology is also on-board including ‘Smart Pause’, the ability to track eye and head movements which can be used to control video playback as well as ‘Smart Scroll’ for scrolling the screen with your eyes, ‘Air View’ allows you to open and view certain features just by hovering your finger over the screen, ‘WatchON’ turns your Galaxy S4 into a remote control and personal and planner for your TV or setop box whilst ‘Group Play’ lets you connect with multiple Galaxy S4 phones to create a powerful sound system as well as enjoy multi-player gaming and share media.
Finally, Samsung have included new health concious features called ‘S Health’ which along with multiple accessories including Body Scale, S Bands and Heart Rate Monitors (HRM) allow you to track workouts, weight levels and daily intake using graphs as well as inform you of your comfort level!
The new Galaxy S4 shaves even more depth off of the S3 measuring 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm and despite the bigger screen and extra tech is actually lighter at just 130g!
What we think of the Samsung Galaxy S4:
Samsung haven’t let us down after the success of the Galaxy S3, the S4 introduces a wealth of fantastic new features and technology whilst managing to be even lighter and slimmer!
We love the large full HD display and high specification cameras with their imaging features as well as the sheer speed of operation thanks to that amazing quad-core processor, if you’re looking for a smart phone that does it all and a whole lot more then the Galaxy S4 is a very hard device to beat!
